This "big boy" may have turned 1 and started walking, but I'm pretty sure he'll always be his Momma's "baby" ..he is just TOO sweet! He was only a few weeks old when I first met him and I have enjoyed watching him grow from behind the camera ;-)

In loving memory of Frances Raulerson Pickren. It's been a year since she left this earth to go home to her Heavenly Father and we miss her more than words can say. My heart aches for her smile, her voice...her hugs...and the wise Godly advice she always had for her children, grandchildren, and greats. We miss her and she is in my thoughts every day.

Friday may have been just a rainy winter day for us Floridians, but it was also the day of another BEAUTIFUL wedding for Bella Blue Photography to capture! The bride was absolutely stunning and the groom could not keep his eyes off of her. The decorations and food were perfect, and the DJ had the dance floor hopping ;-) The event took place at Walker's Landing on Amelia Island Plantation and even though it was nasty outside, it was beautiful on the inside! involuntary down time

As many of you already know, because well with Facebook news travels fast...I had an emergency appendectomy last Thursday, came home Saturday from the hospital and have been trying recuperate ever since! Nothing can prepare you for an unexpected visit to the hospital via ambulance...and surgery within hours. I am such a planner, this totally through me for a loop. In the end, I had to give it all to God and trust that He would handle it. As always, He did...through my wonderful family and friends!

I am spending the next week taking it e-a-s-y as I prepare physically (and emotionally) for the wedding of my friend Monica to her fiance James ....I'm so excited to capture their BIG day ;-)

And, because, this *is* a photo blog, I leave with you a few photos from my life.

Our little baby girl lost her first tooth a few weeks ago and Dad snapped this of us a few moments after "the bloody affair." We could not have been more proud!

Anyone that knows D is very aware that she loves art, she even has already declared what her career will be...art teacher! I just loved this picture she was drawing of us ~ { Mom, Darci, and Dad "the big bird" }...

Ten years ago, my siblings & I secretly met and had pictures taken of us down at the river. My parents were thrilled that Christmas when we surprised them with a framed 16x20 of that day. Well, it is time for a new photo...so once again we met up and had a very good friend of mine (Kari!!) to take some photos of us. She generously gave me the CD and let me edit away! We blew up one of our favorite shots, framed it, and ....well, I can't say I like myself 10-years later blown up to a 16x20, but I think my parents liked it! :-)

My youngest niece turned one last week and Nana threw her a little "girls only" birthday party. Maci is such an easy-going baby, always grinning and making the rest of us smile. Someone (can't remember who?) nicknamed her "May-May"....and somehow it has stuck. ;-)

The past month I have had to deal with some personal demons in my life. Things like pride, forgiveness, jealousy...to name a few. Here's a few thoughts that I've had running through my mind.

"Just say no."

"You are only responsible for YOUR actions,
everyone else has to answer for their own.."

"Don't judge a book by it's cover."

"You can't make everyone happy."

"God's greatest gift is answered prayers."

"Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10"

There are several sessions and weddings already booked in my 2010 calendar (that I am most definitely looking forward to!), but after much prayer I have decided to slow down and dramatically cut the number of photo shoots I will be doing in the next year. My body, my mind, and my family needs me to slow down. I'm not saying this to cause an influx of e-mails and requests for session dates. I am simply sharing what's going on with me. Have a wonderful week and enjoy this beautiful weather!

I won't deny that yesterday afternoon on my drive to meet Brittany that I was feeling a bit down. I hadn't slept well the night before and was tired and felt a headache coming on. Fast-forward an hour and I was feeling inspired! This senior was a joy to photograph. She (and her family) were up for anything. From bright clothing and funky accessories to her cute little dog, she was ready for her senior portraits! I can't think of a better word to describe her personality than bubbly. ;-)

When I got an e-mail about scheduling six month photos for Trey, I was a little surprised....had it been that long already? Seems like I was at the "J" home just yesterday doing his newborn session. Time flies by when you're having fun...or super busy!

While I haven't been posting, I have been busy! In the past two weeks we've had several birthday parties, school clothes shopping, and the meet & greet at Darci's school. YES, school. Today was her first day, and it went great. We couldn't be more proud....or sad! :-)

When did my baby grow up? Every birthday is significant, but this year has really been anticipated with excitement and sadness (on my part) because kindergarten comes in a few short weeks.

She is artsy, musical and full of life. Daddy has taught her well, and she is already booing those Georgia bullblahhs! She is our pride and joy, truly a blessing from God, and we grow more and more in love with her sweet sweet spirit every single day.

I'll be honest, when I first started mentally preparing (yes, even a photographer has to do this!) for this family session, I was slightly anxious. Triplets!! I kept picture all three babies running off in three different directions. I couldn't have been more wrong. These big-eyed babes were so calm and sweet! I got a breath of fresh air last night thanks to this happy couple! It isn't every day you run into a people that have been married 17 years (!!) and are still as affectionate and happy as the day they got married (so I'm guessing.) She glowed and was constantly giggling and he was obviously smitten with her. It was one of the most relaxed photo shoots I've had in a long time, I felt like I was just there to hang out with friends.

It's so funny how small the world gets when I start conversing with clients at the beginning of their session. Almost always they know someone who knows someone who KNOWS me...or even crazier, we're related and we didn't even know it!

Last night's session (yesterday was a double-feature day for me) proved no different. Only this time the "ah-ha!" moment was when after a few minutes chatting we realized that the Dad (Adam) was at my & Chris's wedding back in 2000! He came with a guy friend, who was dating one of my bridesmaids. Even more bizarre is that I've know Adam for a few years through my job and we NEVER put two-and-two together....The whole thing made me laugh!

the adventures of jared..

I had a re-scheduled (too many times to count) and much anticipated camera play-date with a little boy yesterday afternoon.

We explored around the outside of an old house, sat on an old tractor and debated whether or not it would crank, watched cows and donkeys, avoided stepping in cow ...well you know...We discussed the stability of some old porches, and dared each other to see who more scared!

All this with a four-year-old!! He kept me chuckling with his quick wit and I must say, I have NEVER met a little boy with such a grown-up vocabulary....too smart! ;-)

In a few short weeks our daughter will be celebrating her 5th birthday. It seems like it was only yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital. So typical of a mother to say that, but if you are a Mom, you know exactly how true it is and how time simply flies when a child enters your world.

The past two weeks I've noticed how much she's growing up into a girl. She's not a baby, not a toddler...

Darci loves to weigh herself and has gotten quite frustrated at staying at 38lbs for several months...(what a problem, right?) Last week I realized she had hit a growing spurt (Mom! My shorts hurt!) and picked up her first pair of size 5 shorts at Old Navy...her response? "Mom! Can I go weigh myself to see if I've grown?!"

This summer has brought swimming lessons, birthday party planning (on her part), excitement about k-5 (August!!), understanding relationships, and realizing that "behaving" is a good thing.......my ~~baby toddler~~ little girl is really growing up!

No, this isn't a birthday post...but, as I watched her draw in her playroom as she does almost every day I felt this blog post forming in my mind and of course I had to snap a few photos. These special moments pass by way too fast and my memory will fade, but thank goodness I can look back at this post and smile.

Last night my cousin Vicki's first child, my aunt Mary's first grandchild, and my Granny's first great-grandchild graduated from high-school ~ it's all the same person! For that reason, it was a special night in my mind. She's the first of many in our family to come over the next few years and as I was snapping photos of her and her family before they left for the graduation ceremony, I couldn't help but smile at her Mother's tears...it was so bittersweet.

But you're gonna miss this...

You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast.

This senior prom is significant for more than just her Mom & Dad. I can remember her mother being pregnant (the first great-grandchild for my Granny!) and how excited our entire family was. Wow, I beginning to think I'm not young anymore!

Callie looked beautiful and with her feminine and flowing blue gown she looked just like a Barbie doll.....enjoy these sneak peeks.

When I think summer there are many words that come to mind: flip-flops, the pool, lemonaid, ice cream, popcicles, teeny tiny polka-dot bikinis....and THE BEACH!! I'm taking off most of June to re-coop from a very busy April & May, and am also staying at the beach for a week! Darci is beyond excited and keeps asking us "How many more days!?" ...The beach is one of my favorite places in the world...and a great place to take photos!

Every family has a different story and this one touched my heart. Dad leaves in two weeks for basic training and so it seemed the right time for family photos. I was honored and thrilled to do this for them. I hope they love them and just perhaps these photos will help to keep "Daddy" close to the hearts of these sweet little boys.

I spent a couple of hours with a very sweet couple on Saturday evening...and it can pretty much be summed up into three words: smiling, kissing & jumping! Fun, right? The last photo kinda explains what I mean. They were up for anything, which, as a photographer, I love love love!

How things change when you grow up...here I am a year away from big 3-0! What happened? Where has the time gone? Birthdays aren't what they used to be, but I wouldn't trade it for the world! I spent the afternoon at my Mom's house and had some very lively entertainment! There is nothing sweeter than listening to the sound of children's voices singing "Happy Birthday".

There are a few things that I want to share that might be of interest to you...

1. I am offering $25 session fee credits to anyone that refers a 2009-2010 graduating high-school senior to me for this summer. Tell your friends!

They won't see these until they get back from their honeymoon, but I couldn't resist putting up an early preview. I have ventured into a field of photography that is indescribable. The nervousness, the rush, the excitement....and then the aching back, the tiredness, and the relief. Other photographers will know what I mean!

Despite the array of emotions, I enjoyed it immensely, and look forward to my next wedding in a few weeks! I have to say a special THANK YOU to KARI (!!!) She was my second shooter and we hit it off; what shot I missed, she got...and visa versa. I look forward to working with her in the near future.

This newly engaged couple was not only incredibly sweet and polite, but completely open to all artistic (and a bit crazy!) ideas I came up with. Even with an audience of strangers watching they did not let it deter them from letting me capture them together.....oh, to be young and in love! ;)

The past few weeks have been full of ups and downs for my family. In this really hard economy we are very thankful for my husband's job, but for the past month (only 5-6 months left!) he's had to relocate to Orlando to run a job there and so I am left home during the week as a single Mom. We live for Friday's now :)

In the last four weeks the daughter has gotten an ear infection twice, I managed to get sick with a sinus infection and upper respiratory infection, AND then had to get my wisdom teeth a mere 5 days later...I thank God every day for my Mother, who helped me out tremendously with Darci and with icepacks.

Now here we are at the end of another week and my Meme is in her last days here on Earth. It's hard...her mind is perfect, she knows me, she knows Chris, and Darci adores and loves her. I KNOW she'll be at peace and in absolute perfect health in Heaven, but oh how I will miss her. She is the Godliest woman I have ever known and life will never be the same.

It's days like today that I am reminded how short life is and how blessed we are to have our daughter to give us joy on sad days.

Next time you see your grandmother, hug her just a bit tighter. For me.

It's been a long, cold day....but, the weekend is a day away and my beautiful daughter and oh-so-wonderful husband are close by. God is good.
